Five people were shot after four suspects entered at least one mobile home on Phillips Highway and demanded money, according to police.

"It appears that it is a home-invasion-type robbery. Four suspects entered the trailer by force, ordered the victims to give them their money," JSO Assistant Chief Rick Graham said.

Police said the victims were shot despite apparently offering no resistance.

One of the victims died shortly after arriving at Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center, and two other victims were reported in critical condition Wednesday morning. Two others were hospitalized, but their injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

Police initially said that three of the victims from this location were dead.

The suspects took some property, then sped off in a small white car, probably a Ford or Chevrolet. Police are asking anyone that may have any information that could lead them to the robbers to call police at (904) 630-0500.

Neighbors and relatives of the victims complained about the trailer park, including management allowing too many people living in units and people speeding through the neighborhood.

"This trailer park here needs to be shut down," the brother of one of the victims told Channel 4 late Tuesday night. "It ain't decent for no one to live."

William Bowden, 22, was shot in the stomach in an apartment complex off Old Kings Road. He was rushed to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center.

Bowden is Florida Community College at Jacksonville student that neighbors said was never in any trouble.

"He's a really good guy," a neighbor told Channel 4's Hetal Gandhi. "He's not the type to start an argument. I just can't imagine what happened."

Police said they are looking for a gunman who left the scene in a tan or gold Toyota Camry.
