JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man awaiting trial on charges of raping and murdering six young woman claims he's been a victim of violence while being held in jail.
Paul Durousseau, 34, told police he was beaten by several other inmates at the Duval County jail on Friday. Durousseau said the men attacked him when he fell in the recreational area.

According to the police report, Durousseau had a cut on his face and shoe print marks on his back.
Jail staff said Durousseau has started fights at the jail in the past.
Durousseau is accused of killing six women between July 1999 and February 2003, all in their teens or early 20s. After his arrest in Jacksonville, prosecutors in Columbus, Ga., charged him with the murder of a 26-year-old woman there while he was stationed at an Army base there.
