JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Homicide detectives continued on Monday afternoon to investigate a shooting death at Nia Terrace Apartments on the Westside earlier in the day.
Police were called to the scene at 2045 Jammes Road, at the intersection of San Juan Avenue, at about 5:45 a.m. by neighbors who heard shots and saw a man lying in the parking lot.

Paramedics from a fire station across the street responded, but the man was already dead.
Police said the victim was shot several times. His identity has not been released, but police said he was in his 20s.
Channel 4's Tammie Fields said a covered body could be seen in an area surrounded by yellow crime-scene tape just outside one of the apartment buildings. Children walking to school and riding school buses could see the homicide investigation.
After seeing how close to their home the bullets came, some residents of the apartment complex said they plan to move their families from the area.
"It's not something you want to wake up to," said resident Precious Thompson.
"It's scary. This is not where you want to be. It could happen to your child, too," said another Nia Terrace Apartment resident.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
"We need anyone that has seen anything to call us," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Scott Allen said.
Police asked anyone with information to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
