Stanaland is charged with the murder of 31-year-old Jesse ?Pee Wee? Whitley in January of 1991. Whitley was reported missing on Jan. 14, 1991, by his mother. His body was found six days later in the water at Riverdale Park, off state Road 13.
An autopsy showed Whitley died of gunshot wounds.
Stanaland was among many people questioned during the original death investigation.
Information received by homicide detectives earlier this month led to further investigation and enough evidence to charge Stanalad with first-degree murder.
Earlier this week, U.S. Marshals located Dorian L. Shapiro, 55, in Putnam County and charged her with accessory after the fact to murder.
Shapiro was ordered held on $500,000 bond in the Putnam County Jail.
Anyone with any information about Stanaland or his whereabouts is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff?s Office at 904-824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 888-227-8477.
