Friend: Can't Believe Soldier Killed Family

20-Year-Old From Jacksonville In Critical Condition In Alaska

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kip Lynch, 20, a soldier from Jacksonville accused of killing his 19-year-old wife and 8-month-old daughter before trying to kill himself, is still in an Alaska hospital in critical condition.

Friends of the family said what happened Monday makes no sense.

"They were a good couple, always happy," said Danielle Prevatt, who was close friends with Lynch's wife, Kellie Lynch. "We never saw this coming."

Prevatt said Kellie Lynch was a devoted wife and mother. On Kellie Lynch's MySpace page, she said she loved her soldier and was happy to be in Alaska with him.

"She was a loving person, and I want her to be remembered that way," Prevatt said. "She loved her family and she was a caring person."

Alaska police said they found Kellie Lynch and the couple's daughter, Kyirsta, shot to death inside their home on Monday.

"I didn't believe it," Prevatt said. "It was hard to believe that Kip could do something like that."

Friends of the family said no one knows what truly happened that day that led to the fatal shootings.

What they do know is right now they're hurting, and Prevatt said she desperately misses her friend.
