JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Documents released by the State Attorney's Office on Wednesday reveal 17-year-old Makia Coney's relationship to the boys charged with murder in her death.
Coney's body was found along Powers Avenue on Feb. 10, just hours after she left campus. Two days later, University Christian School classmates Charles Southern, 17, and Connor Pridgen, 16, were arrested. They were charged with first-degree murder.

In one of the reports, a detective said, "I met with student, Charles Southern, who admitted knowing Makia." He then went on to explain that "Southern claimed that he had an on-and-off relationship with Makia since last year."
The report goes on to say, "During the interview, Charles seemed very nervous and could not sit still in his chair."
Police said surveillance video showed Conner Pridgen walking with Coney the day she disappeared. They said in the video, Coney was wearing the same clothes she was later found wearing.
The documents also revealed that classmates were suspicious, which helped police in their investigation.
The papers revealed that one classmate "said Conner Pridgen is into marijuana and cocaine." Another said, "Charles said in the past, that he's not afraid of killing someone, and would like to know what it would be like."
A classmate also said, "He asked Charles if he knew who did it (killed Makia). Charles replied, 'You'll find out later.'"

Southern and Pridgen pleaded not guilty. They are being held without bond in the Duval County jail.
