Deputies said the man picked up a bottle of whiskey, approached the counter and demanded money from the register.

The clerk told deputies she first thought the man was joking, and then he brandished a handgun and again demanded money, deputies said.

Investigators said the clerk gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and the man fled with the cash and whiskey.

The robber is described as a white man in his 30s with a heavy build, blond to strawberry-blond hair and wearing a brownish to burnt-orange Quick Silver T-shirt, blue jeans and a light green hat.

He was last seen getting into a late model burgundy four-door Honda driving toward the Murabella subdivision.

Anyone with any information about the robber is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
