Police said Kumar drove from Jacksonville to St. Marys Saturday evening after meeting a woman he knew as Hailey, who he agreed to give a ride to St. Marys.

They left Jacksonville around 2 a.m. Sunday and Hailey gave him directions to the apartment complex, police said.

Police said Kumar parked the car, and when he got out, he was confronted by four men demanding all of his money. One of the men was armed with what Kumar believed to be a black, semiautomatic assault rifle, police said.

Police said Kumar was struck in the head and facial area several times with the man's fists, feet and the assault rifle, knocking him to the ground.

Police said the men continued punching Kumar once he was on the ground and kicking him in his head and upper body. Police said the men took Kumar's wallet, which had more than $100 in cash, and cellphone, and he was forced to give the men his PIN number for his debit cards and was told by one of the men he would be killed if the number was wrong.

Some of the men left with his debit and credit cards, while the others stayed behind and made Kumar lie on the ground while they continued to point the firearm at him, police said. The remaining men left after receiving a phone call from the other men, who had also stolen Kumar's vehicle, police said.

Kumar walked out of the area and was assisted by local residents until law enforcement and emergency medical personnel arrived. Kumar was taken to Southeast Georgia Health System Camden Campus.

His vehicle was recovered later Sunday morning, police said.

Police said they have identified five people involved in the robbery and assault: 21-year-old Hailey Sizemore, of St. Marys; 25-year-old Gennaro Barnes, of St. Marys; 19-year-old Isa Dean, of St. Marys; 26-year-old Kristopher Daniels, of Kingsland; and 25-year-old Deangelo Davis, of Kingsland.

Investigators said they recovered an AK-47 assault rifle believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Police announced the arrest of Daniels on Thursday on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, aggravated assault, battery and theft.

Sizemore and Barnes were arrested Monday afternoon and were being held at the Camden County Jail.

Sizemore is charged with armed robbery and financial transaction card fraud. Barnes is charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault.

Dean was arrested Monday evening and was also being held at the Camden County Jail. He is charged with armed robbery, kidnapping, aggravated assault, theft by taking and battery.
