Spinnaker Editor-In-Chief Chance Ryan said this moment ?signifies the Spinnaker as a prestigious college newspaper.?

The paper recently won its first Pacemaker award, often referred to as the college Pulitzer Prize. The Associated Collegiate Press gives the annual award to the best college newspaper in the country. Ryan said he believes that the launch ?marks another milestone? in Spinnaker history.

The Spinnaker is looking to reach downtown Jacksonville, as well, in the near future, according to the news release.

The Spinnaker also publishes its paper online at UNFSpinnaker.com.

UNF?s first student newspaper started in January 1974 and was called the Halyard, which was later renamed Campus Up-Date in 1976. On Aug. 17, 1977, the student newspaper was dubbed the Spinnaker, the same name it has held for more than 30 years.
