JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Jacksonville City Councilman and local businessman Karl 'Jay' Jabour III has died after a battle with cancer.
Jabour died Sunday night, a week before his 54th birthday.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene, and two children.
Jabour owned the Karl's Clothier's stores in Avondale, San Marco for years and recently opened a new location at the St. Johns Town Center.
Jabour was a member of the Jacksonville Economic Defense Council, a Jacksonville Sheriff?s Office advisory committee and many other business community committees.
Jabour served on the council from 2007-2008. He resigned after a judge said he didn't meet residency requirements.
"Jay Jabour long served Jacksonville as a businessman, community leader and City Council member," Mayor Alvin Brown said in a statement. "He will be missed. Santhea (Brown's wife) and I extend our deepest sympathies to his family."
Funeral services will be held at Assumption Catholic Church. There will be a visitation from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday followed by a 7 p.m. rosary.
A funeral mass will also be held at 10 a.m. Thursday.
