Woman Standing In Road At 3AM Struck By Car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 22-year-old woman standing on Cassat Avenue just after 3 a.m. Sunday was struck by a car that didn't see her in time.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Mariama Cuyler was in the intersection of Cassat and Glenwood avenues when she was struck by a car driven by Witney Perry.

Troopers said Cuyler rolled up onto the hood and struck the windshield before falling off the car and onto the road. She was taken by rescuers to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center in critical condition.

The FHP said the accident remains under investigation and charges are pending.
