Lasater shot, killed in July

An Orange Park family is mourning the loss of their 11-year-old boy, Seth Lasater, who died from an accidental shooting.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – The state attorney's office announced Thursday that no charges will be filed in a shooting that killed an 11-year-old boy.

Seth Lasater was shot and killed at his grandfather's home on July 12. Deputies said he and his 12-year-old brother were inside their room when a .22 caliber rifle went off, shooting Lasater.

The boy died at Orange Park Medical Center.

The state attorney's investigation ruled the shooting was an accident.

Investigators said the Medical Examiner's Office supported the claim and that there was no evidence that the boys' parents or grandfather knew the rifles were in the boys' room at the time of the shooting.
