Accident at family gathering kills 3-year-old

FHP says boy's aunt backed over child playing at family's campsite

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating after a 3-year-old died at a mud bogging event in Putnam County on Saturday afternoon.

According to FHP reports the 3-year-old Landon A. Teitloff, of Pamona Park, was attending an event with family members at the Hog Waller Mud Bog and ATV Park. While the boy was playing with a truck in the dirt by where the family was camping, hiss aunt, 32-year-old Victoria Higginbotham, backed a pickup truck over the child.

Landon taken to the Putnam Community Hospital, where he died.

According to the FHP report, charges are pending against Higginbotham.

The park posted a message on its website expressing condolences to the child's family.

"Our heartfelt condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends of little Landon," said the post, which provided a link to a memorial page where people could leave messages.

The two-day New Year's mud-bogging event continued on Sunday.
