Ga. man sentenced in sex sting

30-year-old sentenced to 15 years

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A Georgia man was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday after being arrested in a sex sting in St. Johns County in April.

Christopher Lee Smith was convicted of using a computer to seduce or entice a parent of a child, traveling to meet a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.

Smith, 30, of Waycross, Ga., agreed to have sex with who he believed was an 8-year-old girl. Smith was actually talking with an undercover officer who was posing as the girl's foster mother.

Smith was arrested upon his arrival in St. Johns County.

Prosecutors said Smith was the second of 17 defendants arrested in Operation Sheepdog to go to trial.
