DOUGLAS, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced an arrest Tuesday in the slayings of two young women found in a Coffee County pond 10 days ago.

Shieme Brockington, 18, of Douglas, was charged with two counts of kidnapping and two counts of malice murder, along with one count each of carjacking and arson.

The bodies of 20-year-old Tasha Stiles and 23-year-old Angela Ortega were found on Feb. 12 by three boys walking by the pond on Rexford Batten Road.

Ortega's car was found burned earlier that morning.

Investigators said the two women were shot to death.

The GBI said Brockington was arrested Friday on a probation violation, and the kidnapping and homicide charges were added Tuesday.

Coffee County deputies also investigated Keigan Jones, 17, on charges of theft by receiving stolen property and one count of arson.

Authorities said they are not discussing the motive in the slayings or releasing other details of the investigation because additional arrests are expected.

These two arrests were announced the same day Douglas police announced arrests in a separate homicide investigation into the shooting death of a man three days after the two women's body were found.

Marcus Collins, 38, was found shot several times in the parking lot of a city community center. Detectives think he was shot in a nearby neighborhood and ended up near Roundtree Park.

Investigators do not believe the slayings are related.

Douglas is a town of about 11,000 people and the county is home to only about 45,000 residents -- a place where there are usually only three to four killings in a year.
