Woman finds white powder in mailed package

Bomb Squad takes substance for testing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad was called to a Westside home Thursday morning when a homeowner found a white powder substance in a package, police said.

Officers said a woman opened a package she received in the mail at her home in the 4100 block of Misty Meadows Court at about 8:30 a.m.

Police said she didn't recognize the return address.

They said she found something she didn't recognize inside the box, though they didn't say what it was, and also what looked to be some white powder.

The woman called police, and the bomb squad responded.

Officers took the substance to a lab for testing.
