Police: 2 Jax bank robberies related

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating two bank robberies Wednesday they said were related.

Police said a Compass Bank in the 8700 block of Baymeadows Road was robbed at 2:35 p.m., and a Regions Bank in the 6200 block of St. Augustine Road was robbed at 2:14 p.m.

In each case, the robber entered the bank and displayed a note demanding money, police said. They said the teller in each case complied, and the robber fled the banks in unknown directions.

There were no injuries and no weapons displayed, police said.

The robber is described as a white man in his late 30s, 6 feet tall and 150 pounds. Police said there was a distinctive design on the back of his shirt that depicts a skull with an eye patch.
