Police suspect foul play

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville police are investigating the killing of a person whose body was found in the woods near the Emerson Inn in South Metro late Sunday night.

Police were called to the 3500 block of Philips Highway about 10:20 p.m.

Police said a man was walking his dog when the dog began flinching and sniffing as the two neared the wood line. The man told police he thought he saw a body, and he then went back to the hotel and called the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Police arrived and determined that it was a body.

Detectives said foul play is suspected and their investigation is ongoing.

Police have not determined identity of the body.
