JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A jury convicted a 56-year-old Jacksonville man Wednesday afternoon on charges of sexual battery, simple battery and three counts of lewd or lascivious molestation.

Between June 2007 and November 2008, Adel Zeitoun sexually abused three young boys. The children, ages 5 and 8, visited Zeitoun's home regularly because his girlfriend was their babysitter.

A victim's mother found out about the abuse when her child mentioned he did not like Zeitoun because he touched him. One of the victims told police Zeitoun touched him while he was sleeping.

"In the middle of the night, these children would awaken to the defendant raping and molesting them. Today's verdict will hopefully give them peace and closure that they have not felt in some years," said Assistant State Attorney Erin Perry.

Zeitoun faces a mandatory life sentence. He will be sentenced the week of Oct. 8.
