Assistant State Attorney Jennifer Dunton said Alberto pleaded no contest in June to two counts of robbery with a firearm, a first-degree felony, and two counts of grand theft, a third-degree felony.
According to the arrest report, the defendant carried a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun when he and two other men robbed the Kangaroo Express convenience store in San Mateo.
In May of last year, while a store employee attempted to lock the front door, two men pointed shotguns at her and forced their way into the store and demanded money, according to the state attorney's office.
The defendants also pointed a rifle at a customer, ordered him to the floor and robbed him of his cash and wallet.
Two weeks later, the defendant broke into a food store in Putnam County and made off with cigarettes after causing $1,100 worth of damage to the front door and $100 worth of damage to a chain link fence.
