Man sentenced for setting fires at Jacksonville apartment complex

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 31-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison for an apartment arson last year.

Christopher Koepke was convicted in August on two counts of first-degree arson, five counts of second-degree arson, and one count of false insurance claim.

In September 2011, Koepke set multiple fires resulting in more than $200,000 damage at the Columns Apartment complex. He used gasoline to torch five vehicles at the complex and set two fires inside an apartment building, prosecutors said.

After the fire, Koepke filed a false insurance claim on his renter's insurance policy. He took the policy out the day before the fires.
