JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Anthony Carter was found guilty Thursday evening on charges he molested and sexually abused a girl for over two years, beginning when the victim was 9.

Prosecutors say that Carter attempted to use sex toys and committed sex acts on the girl from January 2009 to May 2011.  Carter also showed the victim pornography, including pictures of adults having sex with children.

The abuse was discovered after the child was examined by her pediatrician, and the doctor noticed swelling in the genital area.

"Our young victim was very brave to face her abuser in court and share what he did to her," said Assistant State Attorney Theresa Simak. "This little girl's testimony helped send this Defendant to prison for the rest of his life."

Immediately after his conviction, he received mandatory life on the sexual battery charge, life in prison for molestation, 30 years for attempted capital sexual battery, 15 years for exhibition, and five years on the obscene materials charge.
