Report: Carousel is most dangerous ride Researchers say 4,400 kids hurt at parks every year
(Andrea De Stefani/SXC)
ORLANDO, Fla. – The most dangerous ride at an amusement park is not a roller coaster, according to a new study.
Researchers in the journal Clinical Pediatrics found the carousel accounts for the most injuries to children.
The study found 4,400 children are injured at amusement parks every year. One third of kids hurt at amusement parks are five years old or younger.
Carousels are responsible for 21 percent of child injuries while roller coasters account for about 10 percent of injuries.
Researchers say kids are hurt on carousels when they hit a body part on something, when something hits them or when they are getting on and off the ride.
