MARGATE, Fla. – A SWAT standoff ended in Margate with two people dead Saturday night.

Police say a man made a 911 call just after 7 p.m., threatening to shoot people and then kill himself.

When investigators responded, a man bolted himself inside an apartment along Northwest 80th Avenue, not too far from Coral Square Mall.

A negotiator was called to the scene but report hearing gunshots a short time later. When they entered the apartment, they found two bodies: a man in his 60s and a woman in her 80s.

Police have not released the identity of the victims. They are interviewing friends and family to figure out a motive.
