Police: Man dressed as Santa robs Port Orange bank Bank evacuated after robber places wrapped gift on counter, leaves with cash No description found
PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Police are investigating after they say a man wearing a Santa suit robbed a bank Monday in Port Orange.
The incident happened at 3:15 p.m. Monday at the SunTrust on Nova Road.
Port Orange police said the man placed a wrapped gift on the counter and told the teller, "This is not a joke," and demanded money.
The robber was able to get away with an unknown amount of money.
The Santa fled the area in a dark colored vehicle prior to law enforcement getting to the scene.
The bank was then evacuated as Volusia County Hazmat and bomb squad were called to the scene to investigate the suspicious gift that was later determined not to be an explosive device.
