Lake Mary man says bear broke into his porch again Homeowner now considering extra protection No description found
LAKE MARY, Fla. – For the second time in less than a week, a Lake Mary man says a big black bear broke into his porch.
Tramaine Gaines grabbed his camera and started recording Sunday night after he again spotted a black bear on the porch of his home on Redwood Grove Terrace.
Gaines says the bear first appeared the day after Christmas after he had left some used cooking grease outside on the porch. Gaines says he removed all the food, but the bear apparently came back to the same spot looking for another late night snack.
Florida Fish and Wildlife says bears can smell food from a mile away and will eat almost anything as they pack on extra calories before winter.
Gaines says he's now considering buying a better screen or possibly a fence to help protect his home from any more visits.
