Police: 2 break into apartment, shoot man

Victim hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two men broke into a Westside apartment and shot another man Wednesday morning, according to Jacksonville police.

Police said the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the midsection just before 8:15 a.m. at the Morningside Apartments on Jammes Road, near Raw Hyde Trail.

Police said he was awoken by the men kicking in his front door and confronted them, then was shot.

The man, who was alone in the apartment, was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the home invaders fled in a new model black Buick Regal with an Illinois license plate.
