Scam alert in Alachua Co. No description found
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Deputies with the Alachua County Sheriff's Office say they have taken two calls Sunday from people claiming they were getting calls from the Sheriff's Office saying they were wanted.
The callers wanted the would-be victims to go buy a Green Dot Visa Gift card in the amount of $1,000 to take care of the warrants.
The Alachua County Sheriff's Office wants to remind people the agency does not make phone calls or exchange money for wanted people.
