Tropical spider burrows into Aussie man's stomach

Dylan Thomas felt a 'very searing' burning sensation after trip to Bali

An Australian man has been dubbed "Spider-Man" after a bizarre turn of events during a trip to Bali.

A tiny tropical spider burrowed through a small appendix scar and traveled up into Dylan Thomas' torso, leaving a red, scar-like trail from his naval to his chest.

It survived there for three days.

Thomas went to a local hospital after experiencing a "very searing, very hot burning sensation," but was only given an antihistamine for an insect bite.

After returning to Australia, doctors removed the arachnid by making a small incision in his naval and pulling it out.

Thomas, who detailed his ordeal on Facebook, said he "had never felt so violated in my life before. Just glad it's all over."

He now wants to get a tattoo that will cover his chest similar to Spider-Man's famous suit to commemorate the experience.
