Suspect sought in Spring Park shooting

Victim transported to UF Health with non-life-threatening injuries

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot during an altercation near the Spring Park area,early Tuesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to JSO's "calls for service" website, police were dispatched to 3400 Philips Highway, just south of St. Augustine Road, around 2:45 a.m. in reference to a person being shot.

"An altercation took place in the street and moved to the side of a closed business at 3385 Philips Highway," said Sgt. Brian Shore.

He said a man was shot there and was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with non-life-threatening injuries.

"The suspect fled the scene and has not been identified at this point," Shore said.

The Violent Crimes Task Force was investigating and several witnesses were interviewed.

Southbound lanes of Philips Highway at St. Augustine Road were closed for about an hour while police investigated. The roadway reopened just before 4:30 a.m.
