In October 2007, officers found the victim, 17-year-old Robert Cummings, dead in a vacant lot on Doeboy Street on the Northside.

The investigation revealed that Mainor and his co-defendant, Justin Graham, were in a car with Cummings when Cummings and Mainor got into an argument.

Prosecutors said Mainor pulled out a gun and shot Cummings in the back. They said he then drove to the vacant lot, dumped Cummings' body, and fled the scene.
