JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An undercover investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office resulted in more than a dozen people being taken into custody Wednesday.
Police said they raided a home on Hogan Road just west of the Southside Boulevard intersection and found heroin, cocaine and weapons inside. They took 13 people into custody.
The undercover narcotics warrant that was served at the house by more than a dozen officers just after 2 p.m. was part of a massive operation to confiscate both drugs and weapons.
At least 10 of the people in custody will be facing charges, which could range from possession of cocaine to unlawful possession of a firearm, but it's so early in the investigation that detectives weren't saying much Wednesday.
"Right now it's early in the investigation and police really haven't released any information," said News4Jax crime and safety analyst Gil Smith. "It's unknown the location of the drugs and weapons in the home, the amount of weapons in the home. It could have been in the possession of someone who was a legal gun owner. So until JSO releases any information on the location of the weapons, how many weapons and the amount of drugs it would be difficult to say what the charges would be and who would be charged."
Police said their investigation is ongoing. No other information was immediately available.
