Jacksonville police: Officer found dead in home Police: No evidence of foul play No description found
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 26-year-old police officer was found dead in his home Sunday, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officer Matthew Van Heiningen had served with JSO since April 1, 2013.
JSO said there appear to be no signs of foul play. The case has been turned over to the Medical Examiner.
"Sheriff John Rutherford and the rest of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office wish to extend our condolences to Officer Van Heiningen's family and friends," JSO said in a news release.
