Man falls from tree in Mandarin, dies
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 68-year-old man fell to his death while cutting down a tree limb Tuesday afternoon, according to Jacksonville police.
Police said the man was in a tree in the 12000 block of Macaw Drive in Mandarin about 2 p.m. when he fell about 15-20 feet.
Police said there were no signs of foul play.
"It's just a horrible accident, especially with the holidays so close to us," said Sgt. Jay Farhat.
Police said the man was by himself at the time and there were no witnesses. Police said the family came home and found him lying in the front yard. They said they had attended a funeral earlier in the day.
The man's family told police he was always very active and a "go-getter."
