JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Some local store owners lost $10,000 in merchandise after thieves broke into their shop early Friday morning.
The thieves were captured on surveillance video, but police are still looking for them.
This is the second time MJ Fashions -- located in the 5800 block of University Boulevard West -- has been burglarized. It hasn't even been open a full year.
The store owners, who are brothers, said they're heartbroken. They moved to America from West Africa to start new lives, make a living and support their families.
At MJ Fashions, the racks now have a lot less clothes. Ben Ousmane carried bricks that were used to break into the store to the trash. He carefully showed News4Jax a Cavaliers hat left behind by one of the thieves.
Ousmane re-enacted how the thieves grabbed their clothes and took off with them. One of many surveillance cameras shows the SUV pull up and a man throw a brick into the glass window.
The crooks then ducked under the broken glass door and helped themselves back and forth, dumping clothes in the blue or gray Dodge. They then took off.
Ousmane's brother, Moe Camera, said someone called to wake them up at 5 a.m. to let them know their store was once again burglarized. He and his brother have spent all day cleaning and counting their loss -- about $10,000.
"They're just coming in here, taking our merchandise. My heart is breaking. I thank God everybody is OK," Camera said. "Every morning you work hard every day, and somebody just comes in and takes everything like it's nothing. I don't want it to happen to anybody else."
Thieves also broke into MJ Fashions in May three months after the store opened.
If you have information that can help put the thieves behind bars before they steal from someone else, call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
