JSO: Man shot in leg at gas station

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot in the leg after encountering two men in his vehicle at a gas station in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Jacksonville police said it happened around 7:45 p.m. Sunday. The victim walked in to the BP gas station on Edgewood Avenue, near Interstate 95. When he got back in his car, he found two men with guns sitting in the back seat.

The victim quickly backed up his car. One of the strangers jumped out. The other started fighting with the victim, according to police.

Officers said it was during the struggle that the victim was shot in the leg. After that the victim was able to force the attacker out of his car, allowing him to drive away.

The victim drove himself to UF Health Shands. Police are still searching for the gunman.
