Police: Man attempts to rob Northside credit union

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Jax Metro Credit Union on East 27th Street early Thursday afternoon.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the robber entered about 12:30 p.m. and demanded cash but apparently got nervous and ran out of the bank before he received any money.

No weapon was shown.

Police released surveillance photos of a man suspected of attempting to rob the Jax Metro Credit Unoin at 30 E. 27th Street on Feb. 5.

The robber was described as a black man in his mid-20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a dark blue pullover jacket with a white collar, khaki pants, black tennis shoes and a black knit cap with a bill.

This was the sixth robbery or attempted robbery of a bank in Jacksonville over the first six weeks of 2015. Detectives said this robbery attempt has some resemblance to another of those holdups, but provided no other details.
