School administrator arrested for DUI, drugs

Police say they discovered alcohol, crack in car after accident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 54-year-old woman listed as a school administrator at Beautiful Mind and Soul Leadership Academy was arrested Tuesday and charged with drug possession, DUI and other driving violations, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

According to the arrest report, Diane Hester told the arresting officer she was under a lot of stress because she was working on payroll for her employees at the Northwest Jacksonville school.

Police said Hester rear-ended another vehicle traveling westbound on Atlantic Boulevard, and when the officer arrived at the scene, part of Hester's car was on the curb, and she sitting was inside.

Once she got out, police could tell they would be investigating more than a crash.

According to the report, Hester "opened the door and stumbled." One officer noticed she "had no shoes on and her clothes were messy." The report said the officer could smell alcohol on Hester's breath and "while the suspect was swaying in front of me I observed a bottle of Sutter Home moscato wine in the passenger seat."

The officer asked Hester to look for her license and said "while the suspect searched, I observed two bottles of Sutter Home moscato wine bottles in her purse."

According to the report, when the officer asked if she'd been drinking, Hester said, "Yes. I had a glass of wine at lunch today."

Another officer took over the DUI investigation. After conducting a field sobriety test, police searched Hester's car.

According to the report, inside they found three crack pipes, a white plastic container with crack cocaine, several $100 bills and an empty bottle of wine.

The report said Hester admitted to having a "crack problem" and that she had "smoked crack today at noon."

The owner of Beautiful Mind and Soul Leadership Academy declined to comment on Hester's arrest.
