JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 22-year-old man has been sentenced for his involvement in the deaths of two brothers outside a Golden Corral restaurant, state attorneys said.

George Carter was sentenced Friday to two consecutive life terms and 40 consecutive years for his involvement in the deaths of Andrew Bohannon, 24, and his brother, Matthew Bohannon, 19, authorities said.

Carter was convicted last month on two counts of first-degree murder, one count of armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Carter and three other co-defendants met the victims in July 2013 at the Golden Corral on Normandy Boulevard. State attorneys said the Bohannons believed that Carter and his co-defendants were buying marijuana from them.

Once the brothers arrived in the parking lot of the restaurant, Carter got out of a car with a firearm. Seconds later, Andrew and Matthew Bohannon were shot in the head by a co-defendant, state attorneys said.

Co-defendants Avery Wood and Jalil Graves are awaiting trial. State attorneys said Steven Bennett pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the case. He is awaiting his sentencing.
