"Over the last four years I've seen a lot of good things come from Mayor Brown's administration that I didn't seen previously in a Republican administration," Holt said. "Doing things that are absolutely needed by my constituents in District 11 was a real pleasure, and it's a pleasure for me to support Mayor Brown."

Joost said he made his decision based on the growing city revenue crisis that are symptoms of the unfunded Police and Fire Pension Fund, and he believes Brown is the best person to solve the the problem

"Mayor Alvin Brown ... has a plan that saves $1.3 billion over the next 30 years, that pays down the unfunded mandate by $1.7 billion," said Joost.

Curry, former chairman of the Republican Party of Florida, has a long list of endorsements himself -- mostly Republicans who hold state and national offices.

Both Holt and Joost have served two terms on City Council and cannot run for re-election.
