2 men pulled from burning truck on I-95

FHP: Witnesses stop to help after truck flips, bursts into flames near I-295

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two witnesses pulled two men from a burning truck on Interstate 95 southbound on Wednesday, north of I-295, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The FHP report says the truck, driven by 25-year-old Andrew March, blew a tire and flipped across all three lanes of I-95. As it was flipping, the truck became fully engulfed in flames. It landed in the right lane, facing northeast.

Two witnesses stopped and helped pull March and his passenger, 30-year-old John Wyndham, out of the burning truck. The men, who were both wearing seat belts, were taken to Baptist South with only minor injuries, the FHP said.

News4Jax learned March is in good condition in the hospital and Wyndham has been treated and released.

The southbound lanes of I-95 were closed for about an hour as firefighters dealt with the truck fire.

One southbound lane reopened at 8:45 a.m. and all lanes were cleared by 10:15.
