JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After being responsible for keeping prisoners behind bars, a correctional officer at the John E. Goode Detention Facility is sitting behind bars Monday charged with wire fraud.
According to officials, Harold Walbey III, was sentenced to four years and three months in prison for stealing the identities of the inmates he was responsible for and filing fake tax returns on with that information.
Police said that from 2010 to 2012, Walbey kept a notebook that had 49 names, Social Security numbers and birth dates of inmates at the detention facility, that he used to get fraudulent debit cards and W-2 forms which he used to file fake tax returns getting $110,756.
