Man surrenders after standoff in Palatka

PALATKA, Fla. – A man surrenders to police after a brief standoff in Palatka Saturday morning.

Police say they were called to a home on Twigg Street.

Authorities say it was a domestic disturbance overnight.

Police say the man hit his wife and she left. The man stayed behind in the house with a 2-year-old child.

A SWAT team was sent as a precaution.

Police have not released the name of the man who was taken into custody. The child was unharmed.
