Couple wanted for questioning in Miami murder
PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. – A couple wanted for questioning after a man was found dead inside a Miami motel room is now in custody, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies say Michael Evans and his wife Kristy were found at a motel in Hays, Kan. Thursday night.
The two disappeared in early May from Ohio along with Kristy Evans' daughter, Jala Barnett. The 7-year-old was found at the motel with them and is OK.
Michael Evans, 30, is wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office for failure to appear for aggravated robbery and felonious assault charges.
Evans is also wanted for questioning in the death of Joseph Moniz, 46. Miami Police have ruled his death a homicide.
According to police, Moniz was found by an employee at the motel who went to collect rent from the room. When there was no response, he went inside to find the victim lying on the floor.
Evans had been renting the room.
