Henry Bell, 49, was heading south in the inside left lane of I-95 when, for an unknown reason, the sedan moved to the outside right lane, troopers said.

As this happened, the car traveled into the path of a tractor-trailer, entered the outside shoulder and struck a construction crash attenuator. Troopers said the sedan caught fire as a result of the crash.

The driver of the tractor-trailer stopped and got Bell out of the burning car, troopers said.

Bell was taken to UF Health Jacksonville, where he was pronounced dead Thursday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The right and center southbound lanes of I-95 were closed until after 8 a.m.
