JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – An endangered teenager was found safe in Miami Tuesday evening after he was reported missing with an SUV from a house where a woman was found dead.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said 14-year-old Mitchell Evan Daughtry, was possibly suicidal and deaf. A Volvo SUV was reported missing along with Daughtry.
Homicide detectives called to a home on Monument Ridge Drive on Tuesday afternoon found a woman dead inside. It was later confirmed, the woman who was found dead is the mother of Mitchell Daughtry.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office has not yet identified the cause of death. At this point they don't know if there was forced entry or any other indications of what happened.
"We're proceeding as if foul play is involved. What type of foul play, we're not sure yet," said Sgt. Craig Waldrup.
Daughtry is in the custody of the Sunny Isles Police Department.
Daughtry has not been charged and police will continue to investigate, according to JSO.
Police described the car as a green 2007 Volvo SC90 and the Florida license plate number is 162 WUL. The front right bumper is dented and the back window stickers consist of a Pink Harley Davidson, peace sign and Flagler College Lion. There's also a palm tree frame around the tag.
