Kernan Trail Elementary evacuated for smoke

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Kernan Trail Elementary School was evacuated Thursday morning because of smoke, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue officials said.

Firefighters said the incident was caused by an electrical issue and was not serious.

Light smoke was showing from the east side of the building when firefighters arrived.

The school was evacuated as a precaution, and students filed back into their classrooms just before noon.
