CAMDEN COUNTY, Ga. – A video posted to social media is causing a great deal of concern for parents and educators as it allegedly shows members of a high school football team beating one of their teammates, and one concerned mother has said the violence has to stop.
Will Hardin, the superintendent of schools for the Camden County School Board, said four students have "received consequences" for their roles in the incident but was not specific about the nature of the consequences.
The video comes just two weeks after two Texas football players were accused of intentionally ramming into a referee during a high school game.
The new video, allegedly showing members of the Camden County High School football team beating a teammate, was sent to News4Jax by a concerned parent said it was recorded in the high school's locker room on Labor Day.
She said that she saw the video on the Snapchat account of another Camden County High football player and couldn't remain silent about it.

She said the victim is a junior varsity player who was beat down by other players for wearing the wrong colors at a varsity football game last week.
The parent, who asked not to be identified for the safety of her child, said she couldn't believe something like this would happen over wearing the wrong clothing.
"A student, a JV football player was having repercussions for wearing the wrong shirt to a rival game?" she said. "The JV football player wore a black shirt to the game to support his girlfriend who was a cheerleader in the game. The other players told him that he was going to get paid back because he wore the wrong color shirt to the game."
She said the video was the result of those promised repercussions, as Camden County High School football players are allegedly seen in the locker room punching, kicking and later stuffing one of their own in a trash can head first.
"Grabbing his arms, throwing him into a trash can upside down. Shoving him across the entire length of the locker room, and that's what the video shows," she said.
Though Kingsland police said officers are looking into the video and investigating the allegations, the concerned parent said more needs to be done, especially in light of what happened in Texas.
She said that though the Texas football players were suspended, it's the kind of untouchable mentality that surrounds athletes and sports that needs to be removed.
"All this goes on and everyone just keeps this mentality of, ‘It's just sports. It's just the way it is.' It's not. These are human beings and this is not the way it should be. This is not a part of athletics and it needs to stop," she said.
The parents also said that someone needs to be disciplined, including the adults who can be seen watching the alleged beating.
"One, a child has been assaulted and adults stand around and watched a child be assaulted and that's horrific. The mentality that because you play football you're excused from actions that are absolutely barbaric," she said. "My hope is that who's involved gets taken care of and made example of so the children learn this is not OK."
Hardin responded to the allegations with the following statement:
"Thank you for reaching to us regarding the incident involving students at Camden High School on Monday September 7th. The incident about which you inquired involved students at Camden High School who harassed one of their classmates and fellow football players. The matter was brought to the attention of school officials on Tuesday and an investigation was launched. As a result of the investigation four students received consequences for their participation in the incident. The incident is a great disappointment to school officials and coaches who set high standards for all students and student athletes."
