JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Numerous events across northeast Florida and southeast Georgia will honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

8:30 a.m. - The city of St. Augustine will hold a Ceremony of Remembrance to remember those who died in the terrorist attacks. The ceremony will be held at the St. Augustine Fire Department's main station, 101 Malaga Street.
8:30 a.m. - Downtown campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville will host a ceremony to honor military and public safety. Andrew Jackson High School's color guard will open the ceremony to be attended by Jacksonville Sheriff Jim Williams and officials with Jacksonville Fire-Rescue will be in attendance.
9:15 a.m. - Ceremony of Remembrance at Naval Station Mayport. The event will be held at the base memorial park.
10 a.m. - Memorial ceremony at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lonnie Road. This event at the cemetery's amphitheater specifically honors the U.S. Navy veterans who fought in Benghazi, Afghanistan, on Sept. 11, 2012.
10:15 a.m. - Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department will participate in a wreath placing ceremony at Memorial Park, 1620 Riverside Ave. The event is a local commemoration to honor the first responders who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks. Uniformed JFRD personnel will join local elementary school students in the procession along Lancaster Terrace to the St. Johns River where the group will place a floating wreath in the St. Johns River. The ceremony will also include the participation of a JFRD marine unit, which will provide a water demonstration.
11 a.m. - JFRD will participate in the "September 11 Day of Service and Remembrance" at Metropolitan Park, 4110 Gator Bowl Blvd.. Hosted by the Women of Color Cultural Foundation, the program will honor members of the police, fire, military and volunteer services. The program will feature JSO's and JFRD's honor guards, performances by the Edward Waters College Choir, and it will conclude with JFRD's Pipes and Drums Band and a water demonstration from a JFRD marine unit.
6 p.m. - The Jacksonville Sister Cities Association will hold its annual Peace Concert at St. John's Episcopal Cathedral, 256 East Church Street. The free event will feature ensembles from the Atlantic Coast High School Honor Chorus, the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Women's Chorale, the Jacksonville Children's Chorus and the University of North Florida Chamber Singers.
6 p.m. - The Travis Manion Foundation hosts its annual Heroes Run 5K at the Seawalk Pavilion, First Street North in Jacksonville Beach. Proceeds of the event will benefit the foundation, which helps veterans and families of the fallen accomplish their personal and professional goals.
Gov. Rick Scott issued a proclamation declaring Sept. 11 as Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance. He directed all flags at government buildings and grounds be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Friday.
