BLACKSHEAR, Ga. – The Blackshear Police Department says it has charged Johnny Lindsey, 41, of Baxley, with murder in Saturday night's shooting death of David Wilson.

Blackshear police said Wilson, 37, was found shot in a common area of the Country Manor Apartments just before 9 p.m. Saturday. Police said EMS tried to perform CPR before Wilson was transported to the Mayo Clinic in Waycross, where he was pronounced dead around 10 p.m.

Police said Wilson was the father of two.

Lindsey was arrested Sunday morning on unrelated, outstanding warrants for battery and criminal damage to property, Blackshear Police Chief Chris Wright told the Blackshear Times.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Blackshear police with the case.

Wright didn't want to release the possible motive in the shooting at this time, citing the ongoing investigation.
